we plan on getting the new carseat that grows with the baby, so until he grows out of that. my family was killed in a car wreck so I'm doing everything possible to keep him safe
Mine will be extended rear facing until she completely outgrows the Graco extend2fit so around 3-4 years old. Some states are making laws where they must be rear facing until 2 years.
This is a really good question. My daughter is only 4 months so I can't answer it for you. I haven't done any research yet to find out the recommended age.
My son is almost 3 and still rear facing. I'm going to as long as possible. According to research I've done rear facing until at least 2 is best because of the development of the bones. I'm also keeping the harnessed in boosters til the meet and past the 5 point test.

In my state, you have to keep children rear faced until the age of two.

State law here is age 2, but I'll do it as long as she can comfortably sit that way.
