Yesterday I took my son to the doctor go get medication for thrush. My son is 6 weeks old, born at 21 inches long 8 pounds 7 oz and now at 6 weeks old is 12 pounds 22 inches. The doctor asked how much does he eat and how often and I told him when he starts crying and putting his hands in his mouth or rubbing his mouth on the tops of his hands and crying I feed him. He asked how much? An I told him it's usually 4 oz every hour to two hours and he said that my baby weighs to much now and will probably be fat his whole life because of how much I feed him. That I'm causing him to be apart of childhood obesity. Do any of you think I'm feeding him to much or to often? He eats the whole bottle without throwing up. An he eats when he is hungry. I'm not going to cut down on his portions when I know he will get full on 4 oz and I'm not going to let him go hungry and scream and cry when he is hungry every hour. An no pacis and thumb sucking doesn't cut it when he is hungry every hour.

If you formula feed it is possible to over feed the baby. I would try everything else before making him a bottle. That's a lot for such a little guy
my son is 3 weeks and 2 days And I just uped his to 5 to 6 oz because he was doing the same thing @easton.tylers.mommy he came home a big boy he was born 9 and 4 oz and is now almost 11 pounds if my baby is hungry he is going to eat I would go with your mother instinct
I think you should feed him at least every 3 hours and if he cries just try giving him his pacifier. He has gained too much weight in a short period of time. Try to get him on a schedule but I know how you feel cus if he's hungry then I would feed him as well.
I give my son 4oz every 2 hrs and hes 2 weeks old. they told me not to but the damn child's hungry. my step kids were the same way and neither of theme are obese
Maybe try burping baby first, before you try to feed him again? My baby tends to do all the signs that he's starving, so I pat him on his back and after a bit he burps, and calms down and goes back to sleep or whatever he was doing. Your doctor is a jerk BTW. Not helpful at all.
He doesn't always eat the whole bottle every hour, sometimes he only eats two oz. that's usually in the middle of the night when he wakes up to feed and then he wakes up every 2-3 hours to eat. @candidbabex
sounds normal both my sons ate 4 oz at birth they weighed 7 pounds 12 oz&7 pounds 15 oz both sons..
