So Macey had possibly the best night of sleep I think she's ever had, and I had the worst.. she decided she wanted to sleep on her tummy. No matter how many times I tried to roll her over onto her back, she would just immediately flip back to her stomach. I have read one too many horror stories about babies sleeping on their tummies and not waking up due to either SIDS or suffocation so I set my alarm clock for every hour and a half to go off so I could check on her frequently and crawled in bed and laid there with my eyes wide open thinking whether I had gave her enough kisses for the night, wanting to see her beautiful smile, or just wanting to hold her a little longer.. so I prayed for my mind to be at ease and for peace to come over me and I finally fell asleep. About 5 minutes before my first alarm went off I was wide awake going to check on Macey and her head was face down on the mattress. It scared me even worse I didn't know how long she had been sleeping like this.. I tried to roll her to her back again but no, so I just made sure her face was to the side and then set my alarm to go off every hour instead. Each time I would be awake before my alarm and each time her face was either on the mattress or into the bumper. I prayed for peace and I didn't get it (even though she only woke up once on her own and I've been dying to have a good 5 hours or more of good deep sleep) I was not meant to have a peaceful sleep because if Macey's face had been any of those two place for that long, I don't know how waking up today would've been.. Thank you Lord for giving me the ability to care for my daughter the way I needed to last night, I woke up to my babies face standing in her crib smiling at me❤
It's only newborns that can't sleep on their stomach. Once they can roll they can sleep however they want. You just don't want newborns to because if their face goes down they are unable to roll over. The first 4 months of the important time.
