If a newborn is formula fed, how many ml should they drink in one sitting ? the hospital told me to just offer 20 ml. I'm also breast feeding but he doesn't do it very long because he is still working on latching and I just started pumping so I don't get much at all.. I did 30 ml earlier and when I burped him for like the 5th time he threw up a little
@kbrown91, yeah I try and burp him every 5 mls... ugh this is just so confusing. I've never even changed a newborn diaper until 2 days ago lol. thankfully we have a doc appt tom for a little jaundice so I can ask tons of questions. but thank you sooo much!
He may just be adjusting or you may have to stop every so often and burp him. like burp him when he drinks half of it and then burp him after the other half @amber188
@kbrown91, I went ahead and gave another 10 MLS and he didn't spit up.. so idk 😭😭
lol they do that. its okay, just keep trying & going with the flow you'll both get the hang of it. @amber188
@canaryv, @kbrown91 @mommarodey thank u all were feeding now and I did breast for 8 Mins then 25 MLS and spit up a little now he's back on breast 😥 he's acting like he's starving...
They say to offer 20ml for the first day or two cause their stomachs are still really small. Don't worry, baby will start taking around 2 oz soon :) when my Tia had her son in April, the hospital also told her to not go over a certain amount at each feeding but I forgot the number. Her son was almost 10lbs at birth so they let him have a little over the "normal" amount of formula
welcome :)
