Noticed a few girls mention they're getting or have already had a glucose test and just wondering if it's a routine thing or just in certain pregnancies and depending on certain things? I've not had one mentioned to me by midwife so just wondering if I should be saying to her about it?
I had one at 35 weeks because baby is measuring very big but it came back clear. You only need to have one if there's a medical reason, immediate family history or if you have symptoms of gestational diabetes. It's a very long, boring process and you can't eat or drink for 12 hours. xx
not everyone has to have it. only if there's a higher chance of gestational diabetes, weight or family member which expands to aunts cousins and grandparents too. I had one because of my maternal grandmother having diabetes. it's not a fun experience tbh x
Thanks Mrs! Was just unsure if it was a routine thing or not but I'll mention to her on Wednesday when I next see her just incase @stephyb95 xx
i have to have one for the first time (this is my 3rd baby) because im bigger then theyd like and my dad as recently been diagnosed with diabetes
