Overheard my boyfriend talking to his mom about her coming up and staying with us to help with the baby. I can't express how much I DO NOT want that to happen. I plan on exclusively breast feeding too, so that doesn't really give her a whole lot to do. And she's not a spring chicken so I don't want her cleaning the house or anything. How am I supposed to put my foot down on this one?

You have to tell him your feelings and the reason behind it. My fiancée just knows where I draw a line, fortunately. Good luck!

Tell him. he shouldn't be making plans like that without consulting you first

Maybe be grateful. EBF a very hungry newborn is tiring and time consuming. Having her there so you can nap instead of thinking of laundry, dishes, dinner, pets if you have them, or grocery shopping is more than you probably imagine as help. Having my mom there just to hold my son so I could shower without listening to him fuss was a godsend. Maybe try it out

@dcb012, she's definitely too old to be doing our housework and will be recovering from her second knee replacement. She's not going to be ready for the physical demands that we would potentially need. We don't have a lot of space so she definitely won't be comfortable either. I don't think it would really benefit anyone.

She has the choice to leave.... Apparently your SO thinks it would help if he discussed it with her and didn't immediately say no.... May want to see what he thinks too
