hey mamas, our pedi said to start putting rice cereal in our son's bottle to get him used to textures before we start baby food and real food, but I feel like it would clog up his dr. browns bottles. any tips?
I'll tell you something. When I was a ftm, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Zip! I didn't have anyone to tell me either. So when I breastfed my girl and she cried after, I thought she was still hungry and started to supplement with formula, bad mistake. To fill her up even more (cause she still cried), I DID use the rice cereal in the bottle. So my 2 month old drank 8oz with cereal at night. Led to horrible tummy aches and she had bad colic and she spit up everything. So I learned from my mistakes. Unfortunately baby girl had to suffer through my said mistakes. So if I was you, I wouldn't use the rice cereal in the bottle. If it's not mixed right, they can also get it in their airways and choke on it. But in the end, it's up to you ☺️
Yes I knew that last part. our doctor is against me doing baby led weaning and since I haven't really taken the time to look too hard into it then I just don't know what to do now. @caydensmommy @bri28
Rice cereal everywhere..... Don't put it in a bottle, if you really want him to have it, spoon feed. Cereal in the bottle can cause over feeding, ijs... I never gave my baby rice cereal to get him used to texture of baby food. Also, cereal in the bottle does not make your baby sleep through the night, just throwing that out there
I use a fork or the tip of a knife to make more holes in the nipple or a little bit bigger hole in it! Also heating the rice cereal it help to dissolve with a little bit of baby milk! Then add in the rest of the milk your baby is drinking!
