Was prescribed buscopan last night at the hospital as a pain relief... Didn't have a clue what it was so read the leaflet to find out its for bowel movements and urine infection and that I can't take it during pregnancy..... Last night the doctor said she was slightly unsure in what was wrong but it's more than likely stretching so confused as to why I would be given this.. Anyone else been given this and taken it during their pregnancies or know a good pain relief I can use instead that's safe as paracetamol doesn't work for me

Not sure about prescribing in pregnancy but buscopan is used for many things inc ibs pain bladder spasms amongst others as I have had it as has my son. It's an anti spasmodic drug. I'd run it passed the chemist or phone them to double check. As I was given a drug by the hospital I found out after 3 months I should never have been given and my gp refused to refill the script saying it wasn't safe for baby
