nothing to stress to much about this is my 2nd baby and my 2nd positive for Group B.. they just give an i.v antibiotic and penicillin isnt the only kind they have.
Same here. The only thing is I'm pissed THE DR NEVER TOLD ME. I found out reading my online lab results. Seems like I do more work than they do sometimes. Don't worry and don't google anything. Google is the devil!! They give you a form of penicillin iv antibiotics during L&D unless you are allergic to that strand then they hook you up to another kind. It goes into your iv they will give us for fluids.
It's nothing to be concerned about. They just give you antibiotics when you go into labor.
Ummm no you should worry about it, I tested positive also with my 2nd pregnancy and because I thought the same thing and because I took my time to get to the hospital, was never informed that the antibiotics needed to be administered 4 hours before delivery for them to take effect and my labor at the hospital was only about 3 hours (not enough time for the meds to work) my sons white blood cell count was elevated when he was born and had to stay at the nicu for 10 days getting antibiotics. So my advice is as soon as you feel your contractions being the real thing head to the hospital and don't wait.
