So I am 41 weeks pregnant today 😒 *sigh* and the idea that I'm going to end up being induced is becoming more of a reality I think.. so any mummies that have been induced would you mind sharing your labour stories please just so I can have an idea as to what I can expect? Thank you x
They aren't supposed to let you go more that 12 days over that's so bad @clairey 😡😡
@charlotte9791, I don't even have that really.. they give me an induction date the week before my due date so I was 'in the system' of +18days after my end but when I went back last week (1 day past edd) it couldn't get changed as there wasn't any earlier dates so I'm hoping when I go back in the morning something has changed.. don't think that's helping things either xx
I'm with you @clairey got my induction date today have gave up all hope of a natural birth xx
It happened very quick:) don't worry I was really anxious too it's a normal feeling.. I was 4cm to fully dilated in 10 minutes. In my experience labour isn't as bad as people make out but every labour is different I guess:) @clairey xxx
Haha I'm hoping my little one won't be too big but going off my last growth scan she could be lol and thanks for sharing @lucyspear. it happened quite quick after they broke your waters didnt it? I'm just quite anxious because I'm a first timer and u hear and see all different stories just hope everything goes ok xx
I was induced at 10 days overdue baby came at 12 days over. Would have loved to go into labour naturally but it wasn't happening! Only had the one baby but defiantly think been induced increases the pain!!! I had pessary then drip with gas and air, diamorphine and epidural. Wouldn't ask for an epidural again as couldn't feel what I was supposed to be doing! Eventually got to 10cm but he still wasn't coming out then went to theatre for forceps which also didn't work so ended with emergency c section. I had planned a water birth but nothing go's to plan!! Saying that though you do forget the pain and I'd do it all again tomorrow! Good Luck! X
@clairey, I was induced two weeks early due to reduced movements.. I first had a cervical sweep.. Which wasn't pleasant.. I had a pessary tablet and nothing was happening for at least 24 hours.. It's a little bit painful but its manageable:) they will offer you pain relief such as paracetamol and co-codimol.. Then suddenly my waters went and it wasn't painful what so ever it was more of a relief:) 3 hours later my little boy was born:) xx
I was 2cm when I went in... Some midwifes do better sweeps my first 2 sweeps were rubbish my 3rd one was a bit painful but did the job... I told her to just go for it lol x
@daisysmummy, @mummytomollie was you dilated at all when you went in to get induced? When I went to midwife last week (1 day over EDD) she tried doing a sweep and couldn't because my cervix was still closed.. I'm back at the midwife tomorrow and I'm really hoping there's some sort of progress so she can at least do a sweep at least and I have a chance for my body to start.. however as painful as I think it was both of your labours seemed quite quick once it kicked in which can be a positive. I think it's like the whole 'having a c-section' they get given a bad name and people become scared because labour is a scary thought anyway and @peachesx I hope I don't have your experience lol sounds quite scary.. sorry! did you have growth scans during pregnancy as your son was bigger at birth?
thanks for your stories though does help to hear from people who have been through it xx
I wanted a home birth, but went to 42 weeks so wasn't allowed one, on week 42 I had to go in they told me that Mollies head is really low and they can now break my waters.. Send me up to a ward and gave me a bed , I waited 2 days in pain and wasn't allowed anything till I reached 5 cm.. When I finally got to delivery ward they put me on the hormone drip that speeded my contractions up and made them even more painful.. Within half hour of being on the drip I was 10cm and allowed too push , 3 pushes and a cut and Mollie was here.. To be honest I don't think they should allow women to go over 40 weeks specially when baby is fully developed at 37! The midwife told me Mollie was really distressed and that they should have brought her sooner! Ey well than why didn't u !! Anyhow the drip works wonders! Good luck it's the most amazing experience ever and Id do it over and over again xx
I was induced when I was 41+5 :) I had the pessary in at about 10.15am and by 11am I was getting quite mild contractions and then they got stronger but still weren't regular and then by 5pm I was in a lot of pain and my contractions were about every 30 seconds and I think about about 7 I had pethidine because the contractions were getting very strong and then after that I don't really remember too much until my daughter was born because the pethidine made me really high 😂 it also made me very very sick and I asked for gas&air; and they examined me and said I was only 3cm and then on my next contraction my body started pushing and the midwife kept telling me to not push and then she examined me and said I could push 😂 I pushed twice and was out! I went from 3cm to my daughter being born in 20 mins!!! My labour started at about 11am and then my daughter was born at 12.27am :)
I know and she said she should be able to change it otherwise they have a 'back up plan' I'll find out when I go back later 😟 x
