Can contractions feel like menstrual cramps from hell with knives thrown in the mix? I've been timing them, they're a little inconsistent but I thought contractions were more in your stomach.

I would go. I was thinking the same way as you because I didn't want a false alarm. Look thru my previous June 08+ posts.
Mine were all in my back! definitely wasn't what I was expecting

yeppp mine felt like strong period cramps but I could tolerate them so I was kinda confused as to if I was really in labor lol

mine felt like a huge cramp starting from the lower back to the belly to the groin...I couldn't even sit down.
Yes mine definitely felt like strong Period cramps that only got worse ! Make sure to time them I went in the hospital when they were 3-4 minutes apart and was already 6 cm!
