I just gave birth on the 18th & am being released this morning. I'm trying to figure out what would be best for easing the vaginal pain. They've given me ice packs in the hospital, but they only lasted for 30 minutes each. I have a 2nd degree tear & had severe bleeding from being in labor too long.. so lots of pain. I feel like I read something somewhere about freezing maxi pads or refrigerating tucks pads? Has anyone seen anything like this or know any other tricks?
You can take Motrin which may help, but they have witch hazel pads that you can freeze and may help
@babynessa, they gave me a numbing spray but it doesn't seem to help at all. The ice packs have helped the most & the tucks help a little but not as much as I'm hoping. I had multiple IVs blow while I was in labor, so my arms are extremely swollen & useless. I can't use them at all to get up & down & really need something that will eliminate as much vaginal pain as possible so my husband doesn't have to keep lifting & lowering me.
I used alovera iced pads and switched back and forth between cold and warm (heating pad) and they also gave me a numbing spray
You can go online and order pads that are like ice packs but you throw them away after you use them. Basically like the ones in the hospital. Did the hospital give you a can that you spray down there and it numbs you? Thats what I was given and it was my best friend took it with me everywhere I went.
Honestly I used to take ibuprofen because my clit area was killing me And it helps
@dcb012, I'm allergic to motrin but I'll try freezing the witch hazel pads since I have so many.
Thank you all!
