I'm really struggling with it.. She refuses to latch although I still attempt. So I pump but I'm barely getting half an ounce both breast combined, so she is getting more formula then breast milk.. I pump constantly, I've power pumped, I've increased my water, I've tried multiple things to increase my supply, nothing is helping @candid_ego it's making me miserable to pump every 2 hours and see no results so I'm on edge and frustrated easily which I hate. But I feel like I'm failing to give up..

I pumped exclusively for three weeks and it was physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted.... I gave it up and we are both so much happier now. It was hard and emotional while my milk was drying up because I felt like the worst mom in the world, but when it came down to it, it was what was best for me and my baby girl. Everyone is so quick to say that breast is best but it's not best for everyone. I would have loved to breastfeed or even exclusively pump for at least six months but my baby needed a mentally and emotionally sound momma more. Don't get discouraged. Do what's best for your baby and for you!

@jleightutt, thank you!!! I wouldn't mind pumping exclusively if I was getting the supply she needed, or anything close to it, for that matter. But getting no more than 4 ounces a day and her eating 2-3 ounces a feeding is killing me mentally and emotionally.

See I was producing enough but it wasn't the fatty stuff... so I was pumping every two and a half hours for 25 minutes and so in order to get the hind milk I needed, I would have had to pump for an additional 20 minutes or so... and I just couldn't physically handle pumping for 45 minutes every 2 and a half hours.... I was so exhausted and it was starting to throw me into a depression... so once I just switched to formula and I was able to just enjoy my little one and enjoy feeding her without the stress of pumping, we were both so much happier.

Oh lord! I couldn't handle 45 minutes at a time either, that's crazy! How can you tell if it's the fatty stuff or not? @jleightutt

Well they say that the separation after it's in the fridge is the fatty stuff...and I had almost no separation. Plus she would eat like 3 ounces at the time and then be fussing for more within 45 minutes. But when I would feed her a formula bottle she would eat 3 ounces and then not be hungry for 3 hours

My daughter latched perfectly in the hospital, came home and wanted nothing to do with latching on. So I began pumping. I seeked help from a breastfeeding consultant. And tried everything she told me to help me with latching & pumping. I pumped for like a month and a half ish. And I was exhausted it was so stressful. So I quit. I felt bad for like that first day but I knew on formula she would get what she needed since I was having problems. Just remember FED is best. It doesn't matter how they are being fed, as long as they are. My first child I never breast fed, I didn't produce anything..

Thank you @ciaramarie I know as long as she is fed and healthy it shouldn't matter, and it probably doesn't to anyone else but me.. Breast feeding is all I have wanted but doesn't seem like it's going to happen
