okay , mommas . i need some guidance .
my milk is coming in and im gonna start pumping around 5 . im still extremely exhausted and sore from my c section and im taking my pain pills every 5 hours . i got freezer bags to pump 2 oz bags because thats what he drinks rn . he eats every 2 to 4 hours usually . idk if i produced enough milk yet for there to be a huge supply . so my questions are
how much should i try to pump in one sitting ?
can i still use his formula if i run out of breast milk ?
what is a reasonable amount of times to pump a day ?

I use to pump after every feeding. Its okay if you want supplement with formula. As long as your baby eats Mama don't stress it.

They don't recommend pumping in the first 6 weeks because it could cause an over supply... Oversupplies can be painful. I would say let your body establish how much milk it needs for baby for the first few weeks and then see if you need to pump.

my baby wont latch at all . i tried when my boobs were leaking and he just licked me and wouldnt latch . so hes on formula now . he was 3 days early and my boobs produced not a thing so we gave him formula . then my due date hit and i started leaking bad so i hurried and got a pump . @mazeyy09

Can you use a nipple shield? If you can get baby to latch that will help your body produce what baby needs. I take back my previous comment because I didn't know you weren't doing nursing sessions.

I'm not sure about the over supply but my friends son was premature and the hospital made her pump so they could feed him. But it normally takes a few days for your milk to fully come in. I personally would pump especially of your leaking you don't want to waste it. Have you talked to a lactation consultant?

I would pump for 15 minutes (both sides) every 2 1/2 hours. When my son was on the nicu I pumped every 2 1/2- 3 hours. Sorry your little guy doesn't want to latch. My first son was right at 40 weeks and we couldn't breastfeed.

you should pump 15-20mins
you can supplement.. it helps until your milk comes in...
& it depends are you just pumping or are you breastfeeding too? if it's just pumping you need to pump 8-15x a day to make sure you milk keeps on coming. if you're doing both pumping and breastfeeding then you breastfeed your baby and pump after the feeding is done(:
good luck
