part of an internal vaginal examination. Your midwife or doctor puts a couple of lubricated, gloved fingers into your vagina and inserts their index finger into the opening of the cervix or neck of your womb.
They then use a circular movement to try to separate the membranes of the amniotic sac, containing the baby, from your cervix.

not to much time left :) at your next appointment tell them you want a membrane sweep and see if that helps you!!! my doctor seems to think I won't make it to my next appointment! but if I do I get my membrane sweep and will hopefully have a baby by next week
