How much does the nicu usually want a baby to weigh before they send them home? Some people say 5 lbs, some say less, and some say hospitals don't do it anymore...so what have you all been told/experienced?
*I know there are other contributing factors that they consider before sending the baby home and I know all babies are different. Just looking for a general answer, thank you* 🙂
@eegrnr, desats like if they are on oxygen and trying for room air they might set off the monitor if stop breathing.
@mybabyloves I'm sorry I didn't realize you had already answered that question!! What's a Taylor house?
@eegrnr, I was 33 weeks exactly. She weighed 3.9 and went home 7 weeks later, on her due date
@mybabyloves, how many weeks was she when you had her and when she came home?
I tried asking if I could take him home in a premie car seat the doc said no by the end I was convinced the doc wanted to keep my adorable baby lol.. yes I did it was the most amazing experience an again between wic an the hospital my son has thrived I really hope this baby can too
Well most car seats won't hold an infant less then 5lbs I think there is one or two but don't quote that
@10yearslater0205, I've never heard of the car seat test before but yes all of those things and have to breathe well on their own
she was born at 33 weeks and she spent 7 weeks and I got to stay in the Taylor House but had to be on a waiting list which took 3 weeks to get into. My house was 2 hours from hospital
My daughter had to have no drops in stats for 48 hours, be 5 pounds and eating full bottles
I always heard 5lbs because that's the car seat test but I also think when they can maintain their body temp and eat
we stayed at the Ronald MacDonald it was amazing the support that the hospital gave us it was only a few blocks to go see him an I called alot
Depends on nicu. Mine was the same. Mine were to eat on their own, not have spells, and be over 5lbs.
@lilbit123 if you don't mind me asking while your son was in the nicu did you board in the hospital the 26 days or did you travel back and forth to visit?
@em672, so was it about two weeks that the baby stayed? I was told the minimum amount of time that a baby stays is up until 35 weeks, but no matter what they can't come home before then
my son was born at 36 weeks and wad 7lbs 5ozs he spent 26 days in the nicu he had to keep his oxygen up an eat on his own bf they would send him hm
my friend had her baby at 33 weeks and was just sent home with him at 4 lbs

I know all you ladies have some very good shows/movies you recommend.
(Thread Closed) Calling all Bad Moms!
You know you are out there!
Some of you are ungrateful ass bitches that don't need to be pregnant again !! I know why I'm saying it... Smh !
some girls should shut the hell up .. they always say if you don't have something nice to say then don't say it ! I hate judgmental people with closed minded views .
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
It is like the Ronald McDonald House but just in the town she was flewn to
