Ok! Moms who have had prior C sections - Did you talk to your Doctor about a VBAC ? What determines…

I haven't had my c section yet but I did talk to my doctor about VBACs because I plan on having more children. Some of the determining factors that I remember her saying were the type of incision you have, the reason for the c section, and of course the current condition of you & baby.

I have had 2 prior c-sections and VBAC was never an option for me

Well first what made you have your first csection? I would of really like to had a vbac but I had many complications with my first that resulted in a emergency c section. How does your dr feel about it as well? Especially how long has it been since your last birth...uterus rupturing is a big issue of the births are closer than 18 months. And as long as you know that a csection could result even when trying for vbac I'd say your good.

@usafwife, us both births were emergency unfortunately. and now with this baby everything is a huge risk unless I have a csection the major and highest risk is my uterus could rupture

Yes, because I'm having a rare set of twins. My twins share everything (only one sac & placenta) and there's only one umbilical cord but it's forked at the top. She said so far I would be a candidate for a VBAC because I'm healthy & don't have any health conditions, I'm just having the c section because it's a multiple pregnancy.

@clarakaboom, I had gestational diabetes so they induced at 39 weeks. I labored for 25 hours and only got to 5. I wouldn't consider it Emergency but my doctor was not pleased with how my daughter was looking and suggested it. She said I couldn't labor for another day and she didn't think I was going to get to 10 without her having complications. After 25 hours of labor - I agreed and we did a C section. By the time this baby comes it will have been 5 years.

@usafwife, I had preeclampsia and labored 51 hours and never made it past 8cm. So being it was a failure to progress I don't know if I would try for a vbac that's why I opted for another csection. But honestly do what you feel is right and talk to your dr ;)

Yeah I am not sure which way I want to go. I have lost a ton of weight since then - but I still think I have GD and I am also already also dealing with extremely low blood pressure. And I'm only 9 weeks. So I assume it's only going to get more exciting lol.

Oh ok that's good! So they may let you try it. I would bring it up & see if there's anything you need to do to increase your chances of getting a VBAC or anything you can do to keep your pregnancy healthy enough for one since it's still early in your pregnancy so you have plenty of time. 😊

I would like to try but my doctor don't think I can do it . I was told when I had my son that I was way too narrow to push and usually that doesn't change I tried for 3 hrs until I had nothing left and his heartbeat was dropping because he was stressed . He was only 5 pounds which is tiny so I guess I really can't do it . I'm 16 weeks and I asked about it and she said that if I couldn't get my 5 pound baby out before more than likely I won't be able to do it now considering you bone structure doesn't change .

I would like to try but then again that was pure Torture with my son and I don't think I really wanna go through that again putting myself in harms way and stressing my baby . But I would like to at least once experience it naturally . If I can do if

@jeanetta25, that's me too! I truly think I'd end up having a c section - not necessarily an emergency but at least I could say I tried! Lol

Yea my doc is trying to just schedule one because she really says it's not going to happen but I'm saying I want to try she's not budging because she know how stressful it is to put your body through something that is not meant to go through. Maybe down the line she will at least consider but honestly if she down to the wire thinks I can't still then I'll have to settle .
