from my experience I went in Monday night at 6:30 they started cervidil to soften my cervix, then 5 a.m. the next morning they started my pitocin and within an hour I was having strong regular contractions and my daughter was born at 1:38 in the afternoon it was the smoothest delivery I have had out of my 3 kids
