@itty-bitty22, that drives me nuts when people do that, all the nurses tried to get me to do it, the wic people tried to get me to, and so did baby's dad...

@itty-bitty22, right..I tried and tried to breastfeed, but my son doesn't like it, he just pushes away.

@81516mommy2be, @itty-bitty22 this irritates me too. I breast feed myself. And let me tell you ITS STRESSFUL. I have an aggressive eater. 8 days old and the doctors were calling her a piranha. Bad latching, sore nipples, engorging boobs... It isn't for the faint of heart. And I've considered switching to formula many times . Or even hybrid feeding. My baby was born with jaundice, so I spent a day in the pediatric ward with her. I mentioned hybrid feeding and the doctors JUMPED my throat. "Don't do that it isn't healthy for baby" or "breast feeding is best. Stick to it you already started it" . Mind you another pediatrician told me that his wife hybrid fed to give her boobs a break sometimes and their baby was happy and healthy. Mentioned exclusively pumping and they jumped me again. "Your milk will dry out" "you aren't getting the full benefits" I sat there and was like "I talked to 3 different lactation specialists. None of them could help with the aggressive eating behavior. None of them could help that she REFUSED to latch to my left breast. Can't win for losing can I" so it is most definitely something to considered pros and cons. But I will say I bought a nipple guard and it works. Somewhat for the aggressive eating. And nothing can beat how close I feel to her. She stares at me and smiles through eating. And she coos as she passes out. It is all up to you and don't let no one pressure you. You are the baby's parent. You know what is best.

@lexximarie, what's an aggressive eater?

@scidg3, aggressive eater meaning when I go to feed her she doesn't give any chance to latch correctly. I can detach and re-attach her to my breasts as many times as I want but due to being aggressive it's the same over and over. She bites/gums. Acting like she doesn't ever eat etc. spoke to her pediatrician this morning about it and she said many babies tend to get aggressive later on rather than early. But as she gets older she should grow out of it.
