Remy is havin a hard time latching without me wearing a nipple shield. Has anyone else had this problem?

my daughter refuses to latch without it

i had that with my son. he refused to latch on without the nipple shield. bc of that my milk wasn't coming in as much anymore. so ultimately after trying for so long switched to formula. i wish he would've been a pro at latching when he was a NB

@mamaash, my son is having a hard time latching and refuses to latch without the shield. He is already 7 weeks and I've been expressing my milk via pump for him. I'm getting extremely tired of pumping and my thrush is gone, I would really like to breastfeed. But he's so dependent on the shield :(

yeah that's exactly what happened to me... I unfortunately couldn't do it anymore I caved. I tried to do latching without the nipple shield and he just wasn't having it. then after awhile of trying to get him away from the shield and just do it nipple he started to refuse the shield... so in order for me to feed him id pump my milk and then bottle it and give it to him.. but then bc he wasn't latching as much anymore my milk stopped. went from 6 oz to 4oz to dramatically not even 1oz.. hard when you want him to have your breast milk but my body just wasn't cooperating anymore.

@Maxie is that the only way you feed her?

@mamaash, I feel like my milk production has dropped dramatically because of my thrush and the pain from pumping so often. I figured if I could get him to latch it would bring my production back up. But that's literally what I've been doing, pumping and bottling his milk for him. I'm not sure what to do at this point.
