Need some going back to work advice- I've got a job trial tonight for one out of two possible jobs starting sept it's being a nanny I get to bring along Albie both jobs are after school and morning and in the school holidays full time now it's coming round to it I'm in two minds about whether I want to go back soon although I get to bring Albie I'll still being having to look after other people's kids and missing sometime with him in a way? I've worked since I was 14, always had my own money,
I'm very Independent and hate the idea of living on mat money and relying on my OH going to work everyday I don't want him to hate me for not working but I also don't want to look back in 5 years and think why did I rush going back to work just for the money I really don't know what to do and I know if I cancel there's no changing my mind in two weeks and deciding I do want I also have a feeling my Oh will get shitty with me about it if I was to cancel as I haven't given it a go

@mrsmowmow, I've always been a nanny so have the choice to look for another job but ideally I'd like to bring him along with me but worried if I pass this I may not find something when I do want to go back, money isn't a massive issue at the moment but I worry as the months pass and my mat leave decreases and finishes I don't want it to be a mad rush I wish I could stay with him forever! Xx

Why don't you sit down with him and discuss it. In my opinion, I would wait abit longer. There's always going to be other jobs and the last thing you want to do is start working for one of the families and then decide a few months down the line that you made a mistake and then leave hem without a nanny. You need to be able to offer your best to he family and it really doesn't sound like you're ready for it yet. Give it another month and see how you feel then. Your baby comes first xx

@jodieiokie, I think he'll be fine but today he finds out what happening with his job if he's staying or if they'll get rid of him because the contract with the supplier has ended I only want to go back because I want To give Albie everything I never had but I also don't want to miss out on anything he does it's such a hard decision! And also I feel bad on this woman I know I haven't said yes yet but I feel awful if I turn around and say no sorry xx

How old is Albie? @holliesinead I also work in childcare but in Day Nurseries. I was in the same debating boat when I went back to work last year. I got a job at a nursery which I could take Morgan too as well. I was nervous & didn't know if going back was the right choice. I didn't have to go back but like you I was used to having my own money & independence & hated relying on my husband whilst on maternity. Anyways it was a nice transition. I worked part time (3days then 4days when I got a promotion). I was working, earning extra money which meant I could do more with Morgan. But Morgan was with me so I still saw him even if not all day. Plus he was getting out, socialising with other children & busy doing activities day to day. Don't have any regrets. If he's still young & you want to wait, wait. I'm sure more jobs will come up. But if you try it & don't like it you can also stop & at least you can say you tried it but it wasn't for you.

See how today goes first and then speak with him. Going back to work a few months later won't stop Albie from having everything. If you were able to ask him, he would much prefer the company of his mummy over toys and things. And as for the lady. Just let her know how your feeling. If she wants you that bad she may just get a temp for the time you want to take.. Xx
