Morning ladies. As you may know my son arrived yesterday at 22.30 hours after waters breaking and leaking out from 3.30am in the morning.
When I was first checked in hospital at 10.00 I was 1cm and only progressed to 3cm by 21.30.
Be warned!! Second babies can even surprise midwives how quickly they arrive.
I had the urge to push in the low risk room and wanted to stay there, instead, they wanted to progress me through induction due to the lapse of 18hours following ruptured membranes. So I struggled from one corridor to the other, she left the room to go and get monitors etc at which point I couldn't hold him in any longer, I pushed him out in two contractions. If it wasn't for having knickers on I would have had to catch him myself. She nearly missed the birth and someone else (eg Hubby) would have had to catch him!!! So 4cm (cervix fully effaced but central) to fully dilated in lees than 30minutes. Don't let them send you home if you feel pushy!!!!!! So glad I stayed around. We know our bodies best!
Pain relief was gas and air, I found it fantastic and make me giggle too 😂.
