My baby mostly will nurse one boob power feeding. sometimes she will go to the other side but not till 30-45 minutes later. and seeing she is 5 days old I should be nursing every 2-3 hours but if she is sleep she refuses to wake up or don't be interested. she'll wake up herself the 3rd or 4th hour to feed.
sorry it's so long, do you ladies have any tips?
yess my son was born 7lb8oz left the hospital 7.5 and 3 days later at the doctor he was 7lb12oz she only lost 6oz but like you said my son gained after leaving. but the doctor think she weighs great so I'm not worried @ariliyahzihmommy3
that's great. my baby in the first week weighed more than her birth weight k not by a few oz but it's the first time one of my babies gained and not dropped
yeah the Dr said she looked great yesterday, he said most babies lose 10% the week home and she only lost 5%, so he said she must be getting enough @ariliyahzihmommy3
well she should be fine...all that matters is she's getting enough to eat.
Have you consulted a lactaction consultant about it?
yeah that's what I've been doing, alternating. she be sleeping so good and I try to wake her up. my first child my son had no problem nursing off both breast, he was greedy.
Just keep alternating breasts so they get equal milk release or whatever breast she doesn't use the most try to pump that one. I used to wake my baby up to feed but if she sleeps 4 hours let her just don't let her sleep too long. Also my 2nd baby was like that due to me having a cs and had to take Percocet for pain it made both of us sleepy, she got sleepy from getting it in her system from breastfeeding...but if that ain't your situation I would just refer to the first part I wrote
Waking to feed?
My dd is a week old and I was told by her doctor to wake her every 2 hours during the day and 3-4 hours at night to feed her. For the first 3 days I did that and when I would wake her fit a night feeding she was fussy and usually wouldn't go back to sleep and would want to nurse constantly until about 9 am. I tried not waking her last night and she slept beautifully! She woke up around 6 hours in and ate then slept another hour or so and ate again. Is it ok to let her sleep?
Should I be waking my daughter up every 3-4 hours to feed? She sleeps and doesn't wake up I have to wake her up to feed her.
