I need some advice with breastfeeding. at least with pumping. like I don't know when to do it .. I just wanna get a stock pile going for when I return to work. I'm just confused. I don't wanna pump & then have my daughter be hungry right after & then not have anything to give her. not sure if that's how it works but if you guys could help me, I'd appreciate it.
my ob recommends pumping at least every 3-4 but not more than 5 hours apart and also at least my experience (your supply could be different) I still have enough to feed after I pump but I only pump around 20 minutes at a time. otherwise if you're worried about not having enough for baby then you could always pump after you feed. but I do it the other way because otherwise my daughter smells the milk on me even if I do it in another room and wants to eat again after I pump too and when she isn't getting enough she throws a fit and it's hard to calm her so I just switched to pumping first.
Keep yourself hydrated drinking plenty of water! To help with pumping think of your lo, photos of them or something that has there smile on will help with milk flow. Eating cooked oatmeal with cinnamon 3 days a week. If you any more questions to need anymore advice please feel free to message me!
also if you plan on building a supply and using a bottle it is very crucial to keep pumping even at night or it will effect your supply and you don't want that trust me. it started to effect mine but luckily I eat good foods to help produce so it didn't take long to restore it I just started pumping every 3 hours even at night and it was back.
