My due date is sept 17th but since I have gestational diabetes my dr wants to induce me on sept 12. I've heard mixed things about induction. Is it painful? What are the pros and cons?

the only part I didn't like was them breaking my water that part was slightly painful for me

I was induced at 41 weeks. my cervix was closed completely and baby was high. I was having contractions on my own, but nothing was happening. I was given cervidil. a little pill, smaller than rice inserted next to my cervix. I had 3 doses until I opened to 3 cm. after that I was given pitocin 😭. the pain is intensified and contractions are more consistent. Dr ruptured my water at 6 cm. things moved real fast, but the pain was worse than natural labor. I opted out for pain meds. after 16 hours of labor I had baby.

I'm due 9/18 and have gestational diabetes as well. My doc said as long as my sugars are under control that she'll let me go into labor naturally, even if I go past my due date. I am looking forward to a medication-free birth and she is on my side for that. I hope your labor and delivery go well!

Mines went exactly like @jacey3 I wasn't open or anything. They induced me because my amniotic fluid was low..the pill they inserted in me took forever to work for me...then they broke my water (kinda hurt) I got the epidural..I was in labor for almost 2 days
