Wanting to know if there are any secret tummy sleepers out there that let their baby sleep on their tummy? What safety precautions do you take and when did you start letting your baby sleep on their tummy? (I DO not want your opinion about how babies should always sleep on their backs... there are ways to safely let your baby sleep in the position that they prefer and that is recommended by some pediatricians)

my daughter is able to lift her head and turn it from side to side while on her belly and if anything she cries I say for what you feel is right whether it's putting baby on back or tummy to sleep your the mom you know what's good for your child

:) my mother attacked me when she saw I let my daughter sleep on her tummy 🙄 I hate mom shamers. Everyone does things the way they feel works best for them.. All four of my kids started rolling on their tummies to sleep around 2 months old.. My newest addition is just two months, and tries doing it while in bed with me lol. I think it's safe to say time for me to suck it up, and stop co sleeping.

in nicu they actually let my little guy sleep on his tummy. he felt more comfortable. I let my son sleep like that but only while I'm awake and not when he's deep sleeping (because a full belly can cause them problems breathing along with deep sleep). he doesn't really like sleeping on his belly any more but he does sleep on his side. I'm a cosleep mom

Okay so what my pediatrician has told me with all of my kids is that it is our job to lay them down on their back, but if they turn to their belly, then there's nothing wrong with it. If they can roll to their tummy they are strong enough to lift their head and cry if they need help. Some people might attack me for saying this, but this is what I was told by my kids' pediatrician, and this is what I have gone by with all of my children.

@maxie, my daughter doesn't really have reflux problems but she has spit up at night probably 3 or 4 times since she was born and it was a good amount... It scares me so bad knowing that I didn't even know she did it and we'll wake up and she'll be in a puddle of spit up.

@sabreycastro1996 glad to know that! I've been doing so much research but nothing supports tummy sleeping and I think it's so dumb because I know there are safe ways to go about it.

at first my daughter liked sleeping on her stomach, but now she's 4 months and sleeps on her back. you can let your child sleep in whatever position they are comfortable in.

no I haven't swaddled in God knows how long lol...but i did it that way also during the day she was on her belly at night I let her stay that way til I went to sleep then I flipped her but then I noticed she would wake up minutes after I flipped her so I let her stay on her belly and she is fine plus she has reflux so this way I know she nor choking on it or anything

@maxie, I've started letting my LO sleep on her stomach during the day when I can watch her but I'm still deciding about letting her sleep that way at night. She's 4 weeks old. Did you still swaddle? I've read that you shouldn't once they're rolling over but I wasn't sure if it was okay before they started rolling and they were on their tummy.

@midwestgirl16, yeah, at that point what else can you do if they keep rolling over to their stomach?

@maxie, see that's why I'm questioning it.... It changes all the time. And I know that it can be unsafe if there are things in the crib or if there's loose bedding and whatnot but under safe circumstances, I don't see the problem.
