Hi mammas! My baby is getting her 2 month vaccinations tomorrow and I'm starting to get nervous. Can anyone tell me what to expect after she gets them done. And yes I am sure I want to vaccinate.

Thank you!

I give them Tylenol before the shots or after the shots. Some hospitals ask if you want them to give it to them when they are giving the shots to them (like Kaiser)

My girl (11 months now) got 3 shots, two in one leg and one in the other, and one oral vaccine at her 2 month appointment...that night she ran a low grade, 99 degree fever that was no big deal. We gave her infant tylenol (the doctor will tell you how much to give AS NEEDED based on your baby's weight), and she was fine. She was extra sleepy but woke the next day just fine! Every other vaccination she has gotten she hasn't run a fever at all, just a little sleep! For most babies it's not so bad, and as soon as the shots are done you can pick your baby up and cuddle and if you breastfeed I highly suggest letting baby nurse in the office for a bit before leaving. They will let you gather your things before you leave so you can do it then they don't mind! Breastfeeding has been shown to reduce pain and help then through it faster, after the first set of shots my girl only cried for a moment and the minute I picked her up she was fine, she calmed down almost immediately! Also you may hear advice from some people to give tylenol before the shots, PLEASE DON'T. Tylenol should ONLY be as needed, in other words only AFTER your baby runs a fever. It is not meant to be a preventative measure, and it can actually interfere with the way the vaccinations work in some cases. Besides at that age ya gotta do dosage by weight so it is best to ask the doctor for that after baby is weighed 😉 hope this helps, you will be fine and your baby will be fine, trust me they get over it quick and as you know from making the decision to vaccinate it is worth it for their health!
