Mamas,

We have a question for you! It's pretty common to argue with your partner during pregnancy. Blame it on the hormones and just daily stress. How are couples supposed to survive? What relationship advice do you have for moms during pregnancy? Please leave your replies in the comments below and we'll add them to an upcoming blog article.

Thanks,

Remember that the hormones are no excuse to be hateful! Pregnancy is temporary but the damage to your relationship can last forever. And take heart. Document these crazy moments because you'll look back and laugh.

Remember to include your partner in the pregnancy so they don't feel left out!

Don't let your spouse do everything for you. it will feel good to be lazy, but by the time baby comes they'll be so worn out that they won't want to help. just keep your responbilities the same (obviously tweak them if you're actually unable). just be helpful! it's stress full for them as well.

always sit down with your SO and tell them how you feel. Another way that helped my husband and I is we always spent one night just me and him watching movies and cuddling. those little moments help so much. remember to think and breathe before acting.

Make sure you have a support system some dads, could careless about you being pregnant, don't lift a finger to help or ask about you, just make you feel down, so having someone who is there for you to pick you up is key! Make sure you know your beautiful even if he tells you or makes you feel ur not!

communication! admit when you're being hormonal , tell him when he hurt your feelings , just calmly talk about whatever is bothering you. don't attack him. he's stressed too

we are not perfect but we do not argue its not appropriate for our son. my parents fought physically and verbally . i do not want my son growing up in that environment. so we do not for the sake of my son.

walk away and breathe. Sometimes that's the only solution to a disagreement. I'm not saying leave the house and drive off for hours. Just walk away to another room or something

Continue to appreciate each other, and always come from a place of understanding. If he makes an insensitive joke, he definitely didn't mean it to offend. You may be stressed but so is he. He doesn't know what you're going through, but you also don't know what he is going through. When you try to understand each other and appreciate each other, you'll both feel good about each other and yourselves.

Communication is key. Oh how cliche that is but if both parties walk around with a closed mouth, how is the other partner suppose to know what's going on in that head of yours? Clear the air of bothersome things but be respectful and mature about it. If you're stubborn like I was, especially during pregnancy, don't be. Let your man help when he can, you can't always be superwoman but don't take advantage of his generosity either, rather, take advantage of the few months you have before life after baby completely changes. Spend as much time as you both can with one another! Do things together, go out and have fun or stay in and watch a few comedies or action flicks. NO CHICK FLICKS. Unless he's into that, I wouldn't recommend it haha. When you feel yourself get flustered and irritated, ask yourself if it's really something to be upset over, if so, take deep breathes and eat a cookie. I mean, you're pregnant after all. :)

This topic gets to me. Some woman see this and think they have to stay in a relationship with their baby's father just because it's what's "right". In my case, I needed to get out. Not all relationships are healthy and mine was one that wasn't. I was constantly verbally abused and mistreated and even beat up when I was 10 weeks pregnant. If you see any signs that your relationship is gonna take a turn for the worst, get out. Always put your child first and don't keep them in a situation like that.

sometimes y'all may need a time out. Pick one day a week when y'all both go and do your own thing by yourself or with friends.. go shopping, spa day, golfing, beach time. also communication is key they don't understand what we go through sometimes and don't be afraid to tell them I can't do a certain thing. No one can read minds speak up if you need help don't think they automatically know what you need and want from them.

I'm very lucky,my SO is super patient and understanding. I would be honest with him though and tell him when I was irratable and in a bad mood. That way he knew to give me some space and not take everything I said straight to heart.

Don't be overly dramatic and self involved.. we often forget that our significant other is going through an emotional roller coaster too. Talk to one another and share feelings, thoughts and fears. Communication is everything! And lastly remember to not take everything so seriously. Remember to breathe and smile. Everything is going to be okay.

if I get to be emotional and he can tell, no matter what we are arguing about my wonderful man grabs hold of me and holds me close and kissing me and tells me he loves me. we snuggle while talking it out . then we watch a show together or grab a bite to eat and are happy as can be. he gets that sometimes I just need to be emotional and be held. 💗💗

It's easy to overthink things and get your feelings hurt. Men aren't half as thoughtful as us ladies and we forget that sometimes. Learn how to let things slide and if something really bothers you, communicate!

relax take a moment to think if what you're about to argue about is worth the stress, are you guys going to make up after anyways? After you argue are you going to regret the things you said? always think before you do

Apologize often. I'm 30 weeks and I have to tell you, I start fights over some petty shit. I've come to learn that I sometimes really can't tell if I'm being hormonal, until it's too late. I've hurt hubby's feelings more being pregnant than any other time in our relationship. What I do is once I realize I'm being a brat (or once he finally tells me I'm being a brat or unfair) I just stop and say I'm sorry, I'm being ridiculous. and then we, you guessed it! talk! Communication is absolutely key, without it he won't understand what's going on and just assume he did something wrong. Another thing too that us women need to stop and realize is, that sometimes our men are clueless! it's not their fault they just don't know and probably never will know the pain and suffering we're going through. You just need to gently remind them sometimes or even have a good cry with them. Sometimes, those dirty socks on the floor NEXT to the hamper, just aren't worth a fight because for me after a fight, we are both hurting and I feel so guilty. So try to take a deep breath, pick up the socks and go take a relaxing bath or something. You'll find once your relaxed these things won't matter as much and be much happier. Just enjoy your time together as much as you can❤

I often had to pump my own brakes when I was pregnant and ask myself a few questions: (1) Would I argue about this if I wasn't pregnant? (2) Will arguing about this actually fix anything? (3) Can I avoid a stupid argument by taking a nap? (4) How can I have a conversation about what's bothering me instead of having an argument?

My husband and I have learned that the best thing the do for us right now is set aside time to just communicate with each other. To just sit and listen to how the other is feeling every once in a while. When we hit a rough spot a few weeks ago, we would do this every day. Now we do it maybe once a week because we're understanding each other so much better. We can talk about our fears with the new baby, our daily stresses, what we feel we need from the other, everything!

Sometimes talking to him is good. Apologize beforehand, and let him know that you might burst at any moment for no reason sometimes, let him know that it's your hormones,. so that way when you do go off, he can let you off the hook, because he'll know it's your hormones.

All of these replies are nice and all but in the real world that is not how it will go. You will fight and argue. Been there done that. Just know that it will get better. It may take some time (and some broken dishes- if you are like me) but being assholes to each other will happen, believe me. Let's not sugar coat this ladies, you will fight, you will make up. Remember, tomorrow is a new day.

Prayer. We worked hard on our relationship with Jesus. I had to fix mine as a whole. It took until just the other day to have my spirit fixed so that I can be a better wife.

We often found ourselves arguing over nonsense stuff. So we got it out of our system, took a break apart & then apologized & came back together. Sometimes there were tears & sometimes we vented to our besties but just know that it'll pass.

Don't forget your husband is there. yes it is all about you, yes, you have a person in your womb who will exit in the most spectacular of fashions, but this is a change for him too! make sure when the family and doulas are fawning over you, that someone out there is taking care of him! maybe it can be you, but if you had a hard pregnancy, hard labor/delivery, csection, multiples etc, maybe physically you can't do it all. hire your brother to take care of him 😝
