So my breast pain has gotten worse today. It's my left one and the underneath part of my breast looks bruised and is in pain. I pumped a lot today & put a warm cloth where it hurrs and still no relief. I don't know if I'm being a baby or if I should go to the hospital for it.

@hellosweetie sorry for the super late reply! I've been resting as much as I can. They gave me an antibiotic yesterday and told me to continue breastfeeding and to follow up with my doctor in 5 days :) the fever and dizziness is gone now just breast pain but not as bad as the past few days.

I'm glad to hear you are going in, especially since you have a fever and headache! Let us know how it goes mama! Make sure to tell the doctors that you plan on continuing to breastfeed so they have to give you meds that are safe to nurse while taking!

@ainsleighsmumma @hellosweetie @brwneydgirly25 I've been breastfeeding the baby this morning and the pain has gotten a little better. I had a bad headache/fever though so my boyfriend is making me go to the doctor for it.

I would go to the doctor.. you never want to mess with ANY infection. they will probably put you on an antibiotic. I agree with pumping and feeding frequently. massage and heat like suggested as well. good luck.. that pain sucks I know.. @crisfenzo

I agree it sounds like mastitis, which is basically a milk duct that got clogged and infected. It can go away on its own, but there IS something the doctors can do about it if it is bad, they can give you antibiotics to help get rid of the infection. But it is very important that you clear the duct, that is thr fastest way to get rid of it. If you have a fever as well I suggest seeing the doctor. In the meantime, try warm compresses, massage and latching the baby as much as possible on the infected side to clear the milk duct, pumping helps too but remember that the baby can empty the breast a LOT more efficiently than a pump can! Hope it gets better soon mama, keep us updated!

Oh and make sure you're emptying your breast when you feed and or pump, it's the quickest and easiest way to get rid of mastitis

@crisfenzo, there's nothing they can do about it unfortunately, just keep putting a warm wet rag on your breast and gently massage it.
