Evening primrose oil.. What does it exactly do and has anyone used it??

I literally just bought it today, I'm taking 2 gel caps orally it's supposed to help soften your cervix, some people puncture the gel cap and place it vaginally but I'm too scared to do that

I started using 3 when I hit 40 weeks but you can do it sooner because really it just helps soften the cervix is all, it doesn't send you into labor I took one orally in the morning then one orally and one vaginally at night so I could lift my hips to not lose it
