Ladies will I be asked to bath my baby after labour? Should I pack stuff for bathing products for her in her hospital…

my hospital said not the bath baby until her cord had dried and come away. xxx

They provided a bath and everything for my son when I had his 4 years ago, including towel and shampoo. I'm unsure this time as apparently they don't always give you an option so you'll be best asking your midwife what your hospital advise. I've never heard of them saying not to bath baby until the cord comes away though, babies are mucky after birth and I'd tell them where to go if they said not to wash that off before meeting people haha xx

I was also told not to bath baby properly after birth but you can top & tail them which is basically washing them with cotton wool and warm water rather than immersing them in a bath xx

no they didn't with me and it was the last thing I'd ever wanna do after giving birth lol. my mum bathed him at about 4 days old he was really mucky so he needed a bath they do say wait till the cord falls off but didn't do my lb any harm xx

Don't worry bun about packing stuff for the bath. They provide it for you. I packed it and I didn't need it. They also will show you before you leave. Hope all is well xx

@lauramorg, ask your midwife hun my midwife said they wait 24 hours in our hospital

my hospital told me not to bath them for 24 hours but cotton balls for a wash was fine x

my midwifes have said they don't bath them in hospital anymore and try not to bath them for at least a few days when you get home.x

My hospital wait 4 days before bathing the babies :) I waited until the cord had fully healed/came off to reduce the risk of infection...but I did do top and tail and washed the hair as it was full of blood xxx
