So I found out today that most likely I've been cramping/contracting so bad lately is due to sex -.- Apparently there's stuff in semen that causes them and can last for days.. What the hell! So now when we have sex we have to try and remember a condom and see if there's any difference.. Talk about a awkward hospital visit.

Semen softens the cervix, orgasm causes contractions? cramps. So even if you wear a condom, you'll still end up cramping/contracting if you orgasm

Yeah sex will do that to ya, I was put on pelvic rest because of preterm. If you orgasm or anything like that it can keep your contractions going so it's not just the semen you need to worry about :)

Orgasms can do it too but not for days like the stuff in the semen, which also causes the cramping not just softening cervix. I'm expecting to cramp directly after sex, but I hurt for days afterward. My doc said its because of the semen not orgasm. @arivera64

It's because of both, if you are high risk and put on pelvic rest or on preterm watch they will stop you from being able to do either because it will set you off just as easily. Normally pregnancy it may not do that to women only the semen but it does do that to many women. @fallon_fairytale
