So I babysit a 4 month old boy and he doesn't roll over, reach for toys, hold his head up well, etc. should I bring this up to the mom or is it normal? I know all kids are different so I didn't know if this should be a concern?

Also, when he's on his belly, he can't lift his head up. Just trying to be concerned 😕

It could be developmental delays but it might be to soon to tell. You could try teaching the babies hear things .

He may be delayed. Try moving his arms and legs and placing toys in his hand to hold. Some kids just don't hit milestones as fast as others just have to work with the child to get them there.

I would be worried. A 4 month old should be able to hold its head very well and be rolling over. I would bring it up in the nicest way possible. Like just ask if they do tummy time with the baby, or if at all. Or if the baby stays in its car seat or on its back a lot.

@lovinggunnar, yeah I really try working with him but I just wanted to ask some opinions from others instead of jumping the gun and bringing it up to his mom b cause she can be hard to talk to.

Elliot went to physical therapy because we didn't do enough tummy time with him when he was younger. He had such bad reflux that we were just trying to get him to keep the formula down. His physical therapist said that he was a little bit delayed, within less than a month he caught up. He's rolling over, grabs toys, sits up. I would mention it, kids do develop differently but tummy time is so important, once they hold their head up it opens the door to rolling over and all those other things

@babynessa, @valerie_jean @vb95 thanks everyone! I babysit his sister too until she goes back to school and she tells me that he's always held or in his bouncer. She asks why I put him on his belly. It also concerns me that they are still starting him on baby foods when he can't control his head well yet. I just did t want to bring it up and offend her 😔
Valerie·
Awh, yeah then I don't think he's delayed because of natural causes. I don't think his parents try really, especially after the sister asking why he's being put on his belly cause they never do that.

@valerie_jean, I feel bad because his mom is a single parent and works at a doctors office like 60-70 hours a week so they are mostly with the grandparents 😕

@valerie_jean, she tries really hard I just think that with her only spending the weekends with them it's hard for her to find time to work with him
Valerie·
Awh yeah that's hard😔 but 10 minutes out her day will help! Whenever you have the babe just practice ☺️☺️
