Currently 38w4d and have been having constant cramping for the past hour or so. Anyone know what this means???

Yeah...I'm wondering if it's the beginning of labor or not? My doctor never told me anything when I went, rarely ever got to see him in the office so I stopped going a week or so ago and haven't been sure what's even going on since about 34/35 weeks. I'm so lost..this is my first baby. The cramping is mild, hasn't gotten stronger yet, but it's been pretty constant for a few hours so not sure if I should be expecting her soon or not.
