I NEED ADVICE! My son just turned two months yesterday. He went to his pediatrician to get his 8 week shots but when she weighed him she was very concerned because he had lost weight since the last time she saw him, a month ago. We discussed his eating habits and she concluded that he has reflux. He drinks 3oz of breastmilk every two hours, but often spits most of it up. She said feeding him another oz won't help him gain weight, it will just cause him to spit up more. So she told me to add rice cereal to his breastmilk at every feeding. I've been doing that since yesterday. But now I'm reading online that it's very bad to start rice cereal before 4-6 months . Does anyone have any experience with this?
my son had the same thing except he was prescribed baby zantac and takes its 2x a day. She didn't mention that?
I put a teaspoon of rice in my daughters milk my pediatrician told me a tablespoon but I was nervous so I did teaspoon and have been doing it since she was 3 weeks she instantly stopped spitting up. She has reflux as well but bc she is so young there isn't any medication for her yet the rice thickened the milk to keep it down. She instantly started gaining weight also.
maybe you should stop breastfeeding. i had to because my son wasnt gaining weight but neither was i because i was pregnant. so they told me to stop and just supplement. maybe you should try your breastmilk and supplements changing your diet as well. whatever you eat so does baby. cokes and things like that effect your milk.
No. He only drinks breastmilk. I just pump exclusively and he bottle feeds it because he can't latch correctly. @thumbalina001
I actually just been told by his doctor he has it and have to get some type of test before given medicine..but my LO is gaining not losing. his doctor said the formula has nothing to do with it but my daughter had this problem but they didn't do a test. they just switched her formula.
aww.. do you watch what you eat? maybe that's why he's spiting up idk I never breastfeed hopefuly he gets better
