Piercing infants ears....I want to pierce her ears right away after she's born. Has anyone done this? How hard is it to clean/take care of a newborns new piercings?
By all means, you're the mother and you choose what you feel is best. I thought about piercing my daughter's ear as an infant, and when I consulted my piercer about it, he said he wouldn't pierce them until she was 5 years old. And it made me realize at that point in time she can decide if she wants them or not. I completely agree with @ashsloan though. Please do not go to someone who uses a piercing gun. It tears the ear lobe and isn't a good way to get a piercing.
Most places won't do it until they're 6 weeks old, but when you do have it done make sure it is in a sanitary place and done by trained professionals like a tattoo and piercing shop. Getting it done at Claire's, Walmart, ect. Has a higher risk of infection because they don't have to clean and sanitize after each piercing, while actual shops have to sanitize every single time or they get shut down. The people at Claire's, ect aren't trained in piercing, and the guns aren't sanitary and often malfunction.
I didn't do it with my son, but I'd imagine it would be pretty easy to care for them.
Ah ok. I knew it was going to be RIGHT away. But I meant at a super early age.
Most places wont pierce a baby's ears until their two months. None of the places I looked at would and I drove an hour away to look as well as the town I live in. It's not hard to take care of the piercing. I was given a cleaning solution that I rubbed on her earing front and back then roated the earing three times. Thats all you do.
@incunatrix, I done my daughter ls at 3 months because the piercing place required her to have her first set of shots first.
