what happens during a membrane sweep? what happens? is it uncomfy?

have you had a cervical check?

it's a notch up for discomfort because they stick the finger in the cervix and wiggle it back and forth in a sweeping motion

nope @arivera64 every time im supposed to get checked i have to get an ultrasound and they dont end up checking.

it's very uncomfortable but it put me straight into labor !

oh .....well it's enough to make you tense up. Causes some bloody discharge usually and some cramps after

@kendra218, so my mom came up with the brilliant idea to wait until after my sweep to go to target and get the rest of what i need since it's down the street from the hospital in hopes that i will go into labor shortly after.

lol yeah it's a good idea because I believe it works 95% of the time as long as your body is ready

I didn't feel the sweep at all, but I also don't feel the discomfort in cervix checks like most people do. The first sweep for me didn't work, but I'm hoping they will sweep me again Wednesday before they induce next Monday.

personally I'm not going to do it this time. It never sent me into labor. Had it done with all 3 kids. My last i was 2cm, had it done at 39 and 40 weeks and still went overdue

my baby is so stubborn and comfortable... he's super low amd i have cramps and small BH but nothing major @arivera64

My doctor told me it works best if you are already 3-4cm dilated, otherwise it's really just a chance.. I was a little over a cm and obviously nothing happened for me, but I have hopes that I'm more and it works the second time around since I'm already overdue lol. But I hope it works for you and you get your little bundle soon! @averysmom8_3_16

Well hopefully you will get a nice surprise when they do get to check you! I have an NST Wednesday, how does that work? How do they fail/pass? @averysmom8_3_16

they have to move a certain amount of times in like a 20-30 minute timeframe and the heart rate has to go up 10-15 beats from the base like twice for.my docs. they say to eat before but Avery just doesnt like the thing sometimes he does good sometimes he doesn't. and every time you feel baby move you push the button on the clicker @jwalkn4
