This is probably a stupid question but I'm desperate. My daughter had her one month check up today and she is a pound and a half behind and the doctor is a little worried about it so my question is how do I chunk her up without hurting her stomach so she's not behind.

@cheerbigk, when we needed my daughter to gain weight we fortified her formula. Meaning putting extra formula powder in each bottle. I also fortified my milk when I was pumping. Instead of each ounce being 20 calories is was 24.

Oh okay, why don't you try and give her a bit more of formula, I was like that with my LO too and it turn out to be my milk it was to thin so I started giving her more formula and that's how she started gaining weight

Honestly I would just keep on how your doing her weight sounds pretty normal to me and if the doc didn't say to try yet then I wouldn't

@kparis, she was 6.3 when she was born and now she's 7.4 and I switch between formula and breastmilk bc my supply has gone down a lot and I'm not pumping enough for her to eat anymore. @bianca_rose the doctor was a little worried about it and said if she doesn't gain enough weight by her two month appointment they will have to figure out a way to make her gain weight. @rosasyaireth I pump and give her breastmilk and when I don't have enough to give her I give her formula. The doctor didn't say to give her cereal but I might call tomorrow and ask if it's ok to give her some just to put on weight

Google stuff but they do have whole wheat baby cereal. Which will help not stop her up.

Are you breastfeeding?

A month sounds too young for cereal, definitely run it by your dr first. Did the dr seem concerned about the weight?

my babies were preemies and the doctor recommended cereal starting at two months which was like 40weeks adjusted. My daughter handled it better than my son but both were fine. It does slow things down a bit as far as digestion

Did the doctor tell you to try to? How much does she weigh if you don't mind me asking? Are you breastfeeding or formula

Other than cereal is there any other ways I can get her to gain weight @kparis @nikosmomma

I wouldn't unless the doctor said to. And if you do want to, call and ask the nurse. I tried cereal at 4 months and it was awful so I can only imagine a tiny baby. Every one is different though.

Try it for 2 nights In a row and see how her poop looks. Make sure it doesn't constipate her or upset her belly, But I don't see why not. Use your judgment momma

@nikosmomma, can I do that even though she's only a month old?
Trudy·

Just like a tablespoon or two and he is 100% fine

A lot of moms are against it but I started giving my LO cereal in his bed time bottle.
