This is similar to the night I had and I'm just getting home 3 hours past my shift. It was a DISASTER. Much of society has no idea what nurses, doctors and the medical staff go through mentally, physically and emotionally. But no matter what your specialty is, it's always for the patient ❤. oh I know how that is!! I stay 2 hours past my shift almost every day! I haven't had one weekend off in 4 months! I got denied a personal day because they state they don't have enough staff! I'm so tired! Every time I promise myself I won't pick up I feel bad for my coworkers and patients! Its not just a job, you take it home every day! Its a lifestyle!

@stefaniamarie, I rarely work late or haven't done OT at my FT job since giving birth. But I pull extra shift at my per diem job when I feel like it. We are Union so we are contracted to work every other weekend sometimes we get to split according to staffing. What unit you work on and are you Union? And personal and holiday time off we get. They're good with that. Again cause it's Union. Sucks for you and the weekend.

@nurseriri, yes we're union and I'm a union delegate as well! It is exhausting the number of grievances and meetings I've been too in the past few months. They just keep stating its for the safety of our patients. Im just taking it as a sign its time to move on to bigger better things :) I got in at a community hospital in my hometown, 😃🎊🎈🎉. @nurseriri
