So excited that after a LONG week and a half of getting it all figured out I will be starting TPN tonight! I'm so excited about the protein and vitamins and everything else that will be in the mix, for once I will feel like I'm taking care of my self and my baby girl.

@michelle2220, it's supposed to get better once she's born. For most women it does but for some it doesn't..

things will be better for you after baby is here right? I feel so bad that you're going through this
@michelle2220, without it my baby would stop growing and my kidneys would shut down so it's the only choice we have. My doctors have waited to see if I can sustain myself because this is the last resort but unfortunately things are just too bad. I do have a very severe case. I've been on the Zofran pump since week 12 it's just apart of life now.
hmm interesting. I had hg too but not that serious. I was on the pump for about a month and didn't wanna do it anymore. I was tired of people calling me and poking myself so far I've been okay. sounds like yours is very severe. I just hope the tpn doesn't hurt yours or baby's liver.
@jwest267, yes! Knowing my baby girl will get the nutrients she needs and that I might finally be able to gain some weight makes me so happy!
@michelle2220, I have Hyperemesis Gravidarum so basically everything I eat I throw up. I've been throwing up pretty much every day multiple times a day since week 5. I have lost 18% of my body weight and am very malnourished. I have been on constant fluids and Zofran through my PICC line for 8 weeks and through IVs before that but I still can't eat anything to give me nutrients so they have to do this to feed baby and me.... It's terrible.
@momof5lovebugs, I forgot to tag you in my reply!
@babybowers, yay!! you've been through so much I can't imagine the peace of mind you must be feeling from getting this TPN started! 😄😄😄
why do you need tpn?
Total Parenteral Nutrition, I can't eat anything of substance and haven't been able to for a long time now. So this will have all of the protein, fat, calories, carbohydrates, vitamins, ect. that a normal person would be eating. It goes through my PICC line in my arm and into my veins.
what is that?
