I never did that. My babys doc told me the same thing as @eskawho I simply started spoon feeding with baby foods and the first thing I tried was the cereal mixed with puree fruits at about 5-6 months. If your baby is getting formula/breastmilk and drinks it just fine. Theres no need for that cereal. But if you want you can start spoon feeding the cereal early as soon as your baby starts to seat with help or on his/her own. Get ready for the mess and major clean ups!! Lol
That is strange. the preemie doctors for my son told me to because he needed help gaining weight. Empty calories should be avoided if that is the case then.
I was told not to but cereal in a bottle by my daughter's pediatrician unless medically needed...she was gaining weight just find so we started solids at 6 month...cereal had no nutritional value and is just empty calories.
