Everyone keeps asking me if I'm having a baby shower and when I say no they act as if it's a bad thing. This is the third baby and I've never had one, my husband and I would just buy everything ourselves. At this point in pregnancy we've actually bought everything we need for the baby. So when friends and family ask what we need I tell them nothing. And they all seem to give me this werid look. I don't want to come across stuck up or ungrateful. Any suggestions on how to go about this no baby shower situation?
& btw we have a shit ton of diapers from newborn to size three. wipes out ass and enough body wash & hair wash for my little girl to last forever! hahaha
@shaylamookey04, I always decline when asked for something we need. butbi realized it hurts them because they are family. so I just say, diapers or toiletries. something super simple. My family has always been a "we help everyone and everyone helps us" we're so intertwined and what not that they get so butt hurt when we say no.. so I started saying toiletries. not just baby either like toddler & so forth. toddler hair ties even tho she isn't born. stuff like that. it's seemed to work out for us. you'll find something! Good luck momma
I didn't have one with this baby either. She is our second and like you, we just bought everything ourselves. I would just say, try to be as polite as possible when you decline someone asking if you need anything
Now everybody will be happy now and they'll stop asking lol
@lovelymommylumps, I actually love that idea. Thanks would have never thought of that. I would love to have it at a restaurant.
Maybe a baby sprinkle. It sounds as if they are just excited for you. It's more of a celebration for the baby coming. Just emphasize that it's a sprinkle and not a shower. Maybe have it at a restaurant so that it's minimal work that has to be put into it on your behalf.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
I broke down at my moms house today ... because of the debt we owe and Passover is coming and it’s a very expensive holiday ... it was just way too much .... my mom i guess told my brother that I’m suffering and he called me over and asked me why i didn’t just ask for help, and offered to help when i need it . And gave me basically 4K to help for the month and if i need more to ask ... now one thing about me , is that i will suffer silently and won’t ask for help.... I’ve always been that way. ...
RANT!!!! -_-
My friend wants to throw me a baby shower. She has been asking my input on how I want things and sends me pictures of adorable ideas that are super expensive. I told her that we need to watch what we spend since me and the so will be paying for everything. My cousin told me the mother to be shouldn't be spending her own money on a baby shower. Is this true ? How much should you spend on a baby shower? How do I get my friend to understand I'm not rich?
@sarahb518, I think I could work on being a little more polite. I do think I get a little defensive when they ask why I am not having a baby shower. @bodaciousb6, Thanks! I was thinking I should tell them body wash and diapers. Simple things like that. I think the who hurts the most is my mom. She lives in a different state then I do and she's always asking me for a list so that she can send some things for the baby.
