I know most places (around me) won't tattoo you if they know your breastfeeding. My ex is a tattoo artist and the shop he works at asks if the mother is breastfeeding and if she says yes they will deny her. I personally don't see an issue with it. As long as you got it done at a registered/professional shop your fine. You can donate blood after getting tattooed as long as it was in a licensed shop so breastfeeding shouldn't be an issue either.

well with anytime you use needles that go into your skin you have a risk. i personally think if you go somewhere you trust that uses all new, freshly open needles your risk is super low. but i won't say impossible. i do have friends who tat & some places won't tat you if you are bf. it just depends were you go.

the problem isn't the ink itself the reason they say not to is because of the risk of infection.

I got one a week after I delivered when I was breastfeeding and my son was fine (: just make sure they use sterile/new needles!
