My 1 1/2 year old throws the BIGGEST tantrums whenever his dad leaves. I feel so bad but I was told to ignore his tantrums but then my boyfriend gets mad and feels bad for leaving... But being almost 39 weeks pregnant everything else is so hard. Any advice or suggestions? He full out screams and throws himself everywhere and flails his limbs.

It is separation anxiety @naomiedgd, my brother had the same problem with my mom.

My doctor told my sister that's a sign of separation anxiety. he is scared daddy won't come back. it's not cause he doesn't love you. he is probably with you a lot more than dad and it worries him. ny niece gets over it in 10 minutes or wont even worry about it if her mom plays with her before she leaves.

try a preparation technique. Get him a timer or something and set it for maybe 5 or 10 min. have him and daddy sit down with it and play and bond and let him know when the timer dings it means its time to give hugs and say bye. It may take a couple tries but it sounds like hes just not ready to see his dad leave his side.

@nichole_lynn, I try that and sometimes it works but most of the time he understands and starts crying as soon as I grab him): I hate it in public too because it looks like he hates me but he's just attached to daddy at the hip 😓

My son does this too, so before dad leaves I distract him in the other room so he doesn't seem him leave. It's heart breaking but he gets over it in about 10 minutes or so.
