if I have chronic back pain that's not affecting my pregnancy but my pregnancy is affecting my back pain...do I see the OB for that or my primary care doctor?

Ugh that's terrible. I hear good things about chiropractors though!

tried all of it...I'm actually getting separated from the military because of it. the only thing I haven't tried is chiropractor...but then again...it's not like I can bring a chiropractor with me to work. lol @missjess

Their isn't a whole lot they are able to do for you during pregnancy. Maybe try physical therapy? I was sent for it at the beginning of my pregnancy for this horrid back pain I was having. Also heating pad and extra strength Tylenol.

@missjess, my back was the very first concern I brought up to my OB. all he said was try chiropractor and anesthesiologist and that he didn't have many other advices. then I saw my primary and he gave me lidocaine patches which doesn't work. with only about a month left til my due date and if my job doesn't approve the bed rest I will just have to deal with it...I'll try to see my primary again though.

Typically you should consult with your OB first incase your primary needs their consent to do anything

I refused surgery and still do lol so I'm not sure for you but the massages do help. however, it is not a one and done kind of thing. you have to get them weekly or monthly to really get the full affect. I'm also not going to lie if done properly the first one will hurt like hell and youll probably cry and you'll probably scream bloody murder the next day because you'll be sore. however, that next day is a dream and the following days are a dream.

@rkline03, I had a spinal fusion done 4 years ago and am having post surgery symptoms. Did the massages help for a while or just for the moment.

sounds like me shots don't work and pain meds didn't work before pregnancy and can't even take them now. one option is pregnancy massage. my bf is a licensed massage therapist and i can say it had greatly helped me although I will say you want to get about one a week since this has been s chronic problem. I personally do not like chiropractors so I have not tried that option. I also like to use icy hot usually the cream instead of the pack thing. it helps keep pain at bay. I like heating pads to but if I use one to much I become reliant on it. technically it is your primary you should see and there is therapy for pregnant ladies as well. I

my OB has little concern about my back problem since it doesnt affect the health of my pregnancy and pain medication doesnt work and injections are not recommended by specialists...I need to just be able to lay down when I feel the need to but can't be put on bed rest unless there's a risk with pregnancy..so guess I'm just screwed then...

that is totally wrong information your giving @michelle2220 my ob told me to see my primary for my scoliosis because it isn't pregnancy related also told me to see my primary for my thyroid in which can cause problems with my pregnancy but it's not baby related. For back pain you can see a chiropractor like I did no need to get you shots @moua

you don't see primary for anything while you're pregnant they can't do anything bc they're not specialized in pregnancy. you see your OB for everything until you give birth. but I can tell you right now the only thing they can do about back pain is send you to pain management and the only thing they'll do is give you shots in your back.

I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
