Seriously about to cry. My mother in law doesn't think I should hold my seven week old son while I'm eating and always takes him from me, but then she goes and holds him while she's eating. Talking with her mouth full and dropping food on my baby.
Then this morning I've only gotten to hold him while he was breastfeeding after a small bottle. She was watching him all morning (8-1230) so I could sleep. And since he had a bottle of EBM beforehand, he only nursed for 5 minutes. Then she comes in and takes him to lay him down. I've held him a total of 10 minutes in the past 6 hours. But my MIL is so sweet I don't have the heart to say no.

Honestly you have to speak up or you will bottle it up. Take this as a growing experience to do something that is hard. Parenting will be the same thing and this will be the first thing you do to do what you need to do. I encourage you to speak your mind. She should respect you for that. She doesn't know if you never say anything. It's your child and you're raising your child.

She's been here 4.5 weeks of the 7 he's been home. I need a break from her but my hubby is such a mamas boy and wants her to be happy. So when she says she misses her grandson after being home for two days after a week long stay, he goes and gets her. She doesn't drive or speak English. @mommastone

You really need to speak up. I know she's happy and excited for the baby to be here. But I would tell her that you would like some bonding time with your baby. She should understand 100% if not then plan B

@lovelymommylumps, I have spoken up to my husband (MIL doesn't speak English). He just ends up making me feel bad about not really wanting her here and he spins it like I'm only okay with my mom being here, which she rarely is. Maybe once or twice a week for an hour tops. His mom lives an hour away. Mine is 20 minutes. His doesn't drive. Mine does.

Just tell him you want personal time with your baby and that you don't mind her coming for an hour about twice a week. This is your baby. not his mom's

my mom barely got to hold my son over me specifically because he's my child. it's all fine and dandy for grandma to be happy and excited but its your kid. and it looks like all you're doing is making excuses as to why you can't fix this issue so why is that? why can't you take control as the mother and get things going how you want them to? how is your child gonna listen to you when no one else does.
