This is what my MIL does. My son is six and a half weeks old and starting to learn how to self soothe. But anytime she is here (which is for almost a week at a time with only a few days break in between), she does this. She waits for him to look even slightly uncomfortable and then scoops him up. If I wasn't in the room she would have done it by now. I need a break from her. I love her but I need a break. (She's seriously been with us all but two weeks since he's been born.)

Talk with her if you feel comfortable enough to do that, or have your hubby say something! She's over stepping and needs a talking to if she cannot understand.

@expectingz, she doesn't speak English and since my husband was raised in Mexico he doesn't see the harm since "she raised three kids so she knows what she's doing." Yes, but those three kids slept in her bed until they were 7. ...

@juju5859, I do love her. I just have a thing about people spending the night at my house for more than a couple days at a time and I also don't like being told that I'm not parenting my son right or undermining the parenting style I'm trying to figure out (which she does often). She doesn't know how to drive which is why she stays for a week at a time. I like knowing how long people are going to be here. It helps me mentally prepare (I have severe anxiety). But since she has to get rides from her working children, I never know how long she'll be here. My son was two weeks old before she admitted that she didn't remember how to change a diaper. I do love her. Very much so. I just have to let my anxiety out somehow and my husband doesn't like to simply listen. He always dismisses my anxiety when I try to vent.
