It's likely yes only confirmed after my next bloods my bile acids came back as 15 and midwife called and then showed up this morning at home to talk to me. They had the hospital ring them urgently to request a repeat blood sample on Monday. My last one was done this Monday gone. I've been itching from head to toe for a while then it cranked up on Saturday and all I could do was wet my hair and scratch my feet hands face and neck and back on anything I could get my hands on. I'm covered in scabs and been given an anti histamine which isn't ideal either. But my doc thought I was too early for OC apparently not! Midwife thinks im tipping into full blown OC and it's not good as it effects clotting and I'm on fragmin for a clotting issue. And other meds too. Then he mentions the high still birth risk to me and high level of monitoring they do.
oh God @suzie80 sounds awful and scary, are they treating you straight away for it? I suppose the only way to look at it is that it's been diagnosed early so you can get the care you need for it. Lots of monitoring and checks! I hope you're OK, you must be feeling really worried xxxx
Yeah I'm panicking as baby was high risk for hellp and pre eclampsia as I've had it 3 out of 4 times now and we were only discussing getting me to 37 weeks with the consultant last Monday. I hadn't thought to mention my itching as she was an hour late and I had to rush off to get my toddler from nursery afterwards. I nearly went to delivery on sat for itching but read it's unusual before the third trimester. Not unheard of tho. So I waited for my appointment with the midwife on Monday. Once he saw my redness from scratching under my boobs and back and legs and I say scratching through my appointment he requested urgent bloods there and then. Luckily he chased them up today but dau had already rang them and rang my doctors surgery in advance to notify them that they were above the upper normal limit. Reference range was 0-14 mine were 15 so it will be early days but if they are they same or higher next week then diagnosis will be OC and I will be contacted for possibly more tests on my liver and see the consultant to discuss any treatment and a plan forward. Worst part other than the risk to baby was a low fat diet and the itching can and does get worse. I'm not sleeping well now because of the itching and I am scratching my feet and head and fingers all blooming night. I'm so tired. Apparently it makes u feel tired and stuff too so prob why. But with 4 other children and on my own most of the time it's going to be horrid now
oh bless you @suzie80 it sounds like you're really going through it!! are you working? I'm so glad you've had it checked though...it must be very hard with 4 children? Is there anyone who can help support you so you can get some rest? And can they give you anything for the itching?? xxx
I've got Piriton for the itch but doc said not to drive and take it so only at night unless im@in all day. And no there's no one who can support me I don't have family and live in a new area
When were u diagnosed @jod1303 just reading on liver foundation website that over 14 confirms dianosis and 10 if fasting. My test was done at 9 am and I hadn't eaten since eve before. How was your pregnancy managed?

oh bless you @suzie80 it sounds like you're really going through it!! are you working? I'm so glad you've had it checked though...it must be very hard with 4 children? Is there anyone who can help support you so you can get some rest? And can they give you anything for the itching?? xxx

about 22 weeks ish. i was given claritin and menthol aqueous cream for the itching. then weekly bloods took xx
