is it true that WIC doesn't give a breast pump or formula for the first 30 days?
@meli2890, every wic is different. It sucks, the wic I go into looks like a classroom that has way too many people and each rep will tell u something different..
they told me that also that I can't add my baby till after 30 days... so how do these other girls get formula right away from WIC @myliltadpole1116
this lady was giving me a really hard time @alliecat_
ontario ca.. she said that they recommend me to breastfeed not with a pump to produce more milk.. then she brought up the 30 day thing... but she gave me 10 formula cans @alliecat_
Where exactly are you located? I'm in San Diego. May be different due to state or something... but I got a pump from WIC (from lact. consultant) the day after my baby was born. We still have it too. The first two months I didn't get formula because they encourage bf.
No they should give u the formula right when u have the baby
I exclusively pumped for the first 2 months and WIC gave me a pump when I got out of the hospital I just had to return it when I got formula
I was also told when I joined(still pregnant) that the baby wouldn't be added onto my wic until after the first 30 days. They would not supply formula until that time. I only breastfeed but that was good to know in case we couldn't do it then. I don't know about a pump tho, but at our first baby and me apt they asked us about needing a pump but we had bought one from a friend who wasn't using hers .. Maybe try calling the office and see what another person has to say about it?
I had to reapply when my daughter was born but was accepted because nothing changed. No actually my husband was given a raise but we were told as long as we qualify for state insurance we'll always qualify for WIC. I think I'm getting ready to having to reapply as well but not worried about it. And i believe if your breastfeeding and formula feeding they wont give you a pump is what the ladys at my WIC office told me. @meli2890
she actually gave me 10 cans of formula she's all just this one time but next month when I go back she wants me to reapply again @babynessa I'm upset about the breast pump tho @babynessa
@meli2890 yeah that's what they told me when I said I was doing both my appointment is on the 25th so I'm gonna ask again and about the pump also.
I have no idea but WIC helps a lot. Their about to go up on the amount of formula I get next month for my daughter.
I said to I was doing both breastfed and formula and thats when she brought up the 30 day formula and breast pump they rather have baby latch on to produce more milk.. i told her at night I don't want to breastfeed cause im tired and he won't latch on my right boob she's said well squeeze it with your hand and put it in a cup.. omg I don't have time for that.. she was really giving me a hard time @asianae16
I was told that it's a new rule that they can't give me formula for the first 30 days but I told them I was doing both breast and bottle feeding and they didn't say anything about a pump to me.
Thats not true. I had my daughter and thought I was going to breastfeed but didnt work out. I called WIC and had an emergency appointment the day I was discharged from the hospital and was given formula.
o
@ktkayxo reading your comment I think that's what she meant and I understood wrong
They want you to try to breastfeed for the first 30 days but you can get formula if you are not breastfeeding
Not where I go. I got my pump when he was two weeks & I have a friend who got formula the week she was born.
yeah that's crazy and really weird lol. they called me two weeks after my edd to add my daughter. WIC always has crazy rules.
