Yes try the breathable one

The mesh ones are supposed to be safe, definitely would not recommend the padded cloth ones, and most places don't even sell them anymore. We don't use bumpers though

I do because one time I didn't have it on and the baby got her arm between the bars of the crib and I thought she was going to break her arm 😓 but not everyone does
